Naming your boat involves a few tasks if your boat is registered in the Uk such as registering the new name with Ofcom for the MMSI number, re programming your AIS transponder and also re registering the boat. After all this, you need to conduct a ceremony to appease the God Poseidon and have a party to celebrate.
After three years , we finally decided to give our boat a new name. We changed our name from ‘Haddock 2' , the original name related we think to the Tintin stories with Captain Haddock to ‘Mothership', a vessel that safely transports our family around the world.
