Website and Store

Welcome to Expedition Evans. We’re bought our 2008 Beneteau 49 after it had been ran aground and deemed salvaged. Over the past several months we’ve been documenting our journey of grinding and sanding to rid the boat of all the bad fiberglass. We then cleaned up the mess and laid hundreds of pounds of new fiberglass and epoxy both inside and outside the boat. Not to mention re drilling keel bolt holes, rebuilding the sump box, media blasting the keel, fairing and painting the keel…there’s been a lot going on. An error in almost any one of the previous steps could mean that the keel doesn’t line up just right and would require some serious work to fix it.
Today we find out.

Thanks for watching-

With love

Here’s what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground – hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. See for how we came to own her!
