There’s nothing like busting out the grinder to bust through a big project. We decided to make the leap to LiFePO4 batteries and they needed a place to go. Last summer Jade finished the fairing and painting of the bilge solo – with the exception of the battery areas because too many heavy batteries were in the way. Taking the batteries out for the big switch provided the perfect opportunity to finish what we started last summer. We armed ourselves with grinders, epoxy, squeegees, and this time around – gel coat. And then we got it done!

Here’s what we *think* we know about her past. Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground – hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull.
