Yes, I have to say it is heartbreaking to see footage of a friend’s sailboat burning and quickly disappearing to the bottom of the sea, and without a reasonable explanation of what happened.. but this sailboat caught fire when the diesel engine suddenly raced out of control until it was superheated and started the engine room on fire.. and without warning, while the boat was at sea. Our hearts go out to Fred in this terrible aftermath of having suffered the loss of his boat completely, and we hope we can find cause and resolution to hopefully avoid the same from happening to anyone else. Stay tuned as I’ll post an update after I have more information from a company that can help prevent this exact scenario from happening on just about any diesel engine.
