The time has finally come! Winter is over here in Turkey and it is time for us to start sailing again! We’ve had an awesome winter doing inland adventures as well as banging out a bunch of boat projects.
But now it’s time for us to once again hit the high seas and over the course of the next couple of weeks we’ll be exploring one of the Mediterranean‘s most impressive cruising grounds. South West Turkey is renown for combining beautiful scenery and ancient ruins. And the convoluted shape of its coastline makes for one pristine anchorage after another.
But it also poses some unique challenges. The bays are extremely deep which makes anchoring a serious challenge. The mountainous terrain can create extremely unpredictable weather. But this week our main issue is that after taking a 4 month break from sailing, we are super rusty and honestly so is the boat. So we’ve got to get back into the groove if we’re going to be able to take on the challenge of sailing SW Turkey.
