Today we are sailing in the stunning San Blas Islands of Panama. Our last days with current crew onboard brings us to the island of Nargana.. the only island where the Kuna Indians that don’t want to live the conventional lifestyle in palm frond huts on the beach can live with modern conveniences of electricity, music, sports, refrigeration, etc.. and while we are on this island we start to build my new secret weapon for cruising.. an 800w solar powered sunshade for our foredeck, that will also double as a full rain catchment system while we are at anchor.. a real GAME CHANGER for sure!
These new CIGS flexible solar panels from BougeRV are becoming my favorites of most gear onboard, because they even collect more power in shade conditions of dawn and dusk than any other panel on the boat! Weighing in at only 7lbs per panel, the entire sunshade comes it at slightly over 30lbs, and rolls up into a small enough roll to easily store inside our sail locker with all our other gear.
For more information on the panels, go to http://www.BougeRV.com and find the CIGS 200w flexible solar panel to see exactly what we’ve got, and why I like it so much.. enjoy!
Cheers,
Captain Rick & Crew
