After years of waiting, delays, damage, insurance drama, and a full yacht build in Thailand, my new Island Spirit catamaran is finally scheduled to leave the factory.
But before the yacht can be moved, I head to the factory for one final walkthrough and approval. The crew also gives the boat a traditional Buddhist blessing with incense, fireworks, offerings, and a full ceremony to bring good luck before she hits the road.
Then later that night, the real drama begins.
A road delivery crew loads the yacht onto a massive hydraulic trailer and starts the 36km journey to the marina. Getting this 52-foot catamaran out of the factory is incredibly tight, and at one point we have less than two inches of height clearance. I got some incredible drone footage as the boat slowly makes its way through the narrow streets of Thailand.
This is one of the biggest days of the entire build — the day my new yacht finally leaves the factory.
