Saint Helena is one of the most remote island settlements in the world and has a population of just 4000 people. The small volcanic island lies about 1000 nautical miles off the west coast of Africa in the middle of the south Atlantic Ocean. In this video, we set off from Walvis Bay, Namibia and sail 1200 nautical miles in 9 days to this remote jewel of the Atlantic! Also, our 12 year old gennaker rips in half on our last day of the passage..I still blame this unfortunate luck on the fact that we had bananas on board (sailor superstitions)!!!
