With only a few days to go to the Atlantic Crossing on a Leopard 50, we visit the Leopard factory and have a very interesting discussion with the big boss (Managing Director) of Robertson and Caine, Theo Loock about warranties and how to understand how the different products on a boat are covered by different warranties…. Essential must knows for any new boat owner!
The issues of pre-empting warranty claims, the steps in a claim, the importance of allowing the yacht builder to properly assess any damage that has occurred and the value to you in registering and essential info that will make successful warranty claims and understand how the companies view the repairs are all discussed.
A good point raised by one of our viewers (thanks Trent) is that the local laws in each country also varies in relation to what is allowed to be done or not done, what should be covered by warranty and even if the warranty documents from your brand of boat is written and signed by you, the local laws take precedence. For example in Dubai, 2 years warranty is obligatory by law and US law enforces that the company cannot force you to use their products or their mechanics(thanks Bill).

Any Patreons will have the choice to join us for these events which are usually about 5 days to be up close and personal with Eli and John and learn from their expertise… There will be sailing trips, excursions and chats during the events and the subjects will be designed to suit the participants that will be there. Patreons will receive all the sailing and talks with the Barefoot Doctors without any cost but will only have to cover their own travel, food and accomodation costs.
All Patreon proceeds go to Exqisit Life Foundation to support TUFMINDS Mental Resilience and Suicide Prevention Program worldwide.
