We bring you our last episode of our time in SE Asia, where we go out for our second day of sailing on a Max Cruise 44.
On our first day we had worked with a combination of the Code 65 and the genoa, just to test out different points of sails. On this morning, we had a specific destination in mind!
Going through the setup of turning on the different systems and starting up both of the electric engines, we left the marina under electric engines only. Once we were in the harbour, the mainsail was raised and the genoa was let out. We had a tight course to keep, if we wanted to make it to our destination of Koh Khram, so sailing a course of 35 degrees off the apparent wind, we’d switch back and forth between sailing and motor-sailing.
Coming up on the breathtaking island, the sun popped out once again, and we enjoyed a refreshing swim before making lunch and getting on our way once again. The Code 65 was packed away, and with the winds at our back, we sailed ourselves back to the marina under spinnaker alone.
Between our 2.5 days of living aboard and two days out sailing, we completely fell in love again with what will be our future boat, and all the features it has which fit exactly what Matt and I are looking for, not only in terms of a performance multihull, but a comfortable liveaboard.
Stay tuned to the end of the episode where we recap our time and a few of our favorite features.
We hope you enjoy!
