Replacing the cutlass bearings on our Aluminium Crowther Catamaran.

What are cutlass bearings? What do they do and how often should they been replaced? We are answering all these questions in todays video.

We have dropped our rudders, taken the props off, and the shafts out and we are now on the job of replacing our cutlass bearings. These bearings didn’t want to come out first go, they were in there good, we took the heat gun to the outside to loosen up the epoxy and they slid out like a charm.

ABOUT US:
Ahoy! We are the James Family, a family of three sailing around the world and sharing our adventures in family-friendly episodes every week! Sam is originally from New Zealand, Cait is originally from the United States; we met in Cairns, Australia and a few years later during Covid-19 we eloped and then a year later our family grew, and we welcomed Charlie! We took the big plunge in 2022 and decided to follow our dream, sold everything, and purchased an old, unfinished, aluminum Catamaran and we are now fixing her up as we sail around the world. Subscribe and follow our journey!
